Trust-first, participatory process: A community centre was built first to establish trust and demonstrate stabilized adobe construction, enabling the Iruliga community to shift from scepticism to co-ownership.
Dignified, climate-responsive homes: 17 houses of 400 sq.ft were built using locally made stabilized adobe blocks, with improved ventilation, smokeless chulhas, sanitation, and supporting infrastructure.
Beyond construction: The project strengthened skills, leadership, and dignity—transforming temporary shelters into a resilient settlement and becoming a pilot model for community-led rural housing.
